The child of two academics, I was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (Roll Tide!) and raised there for most of my life until I entered Duke as a freshman in the fall of 2003.  I graduated with a degree in Biomedical Engineering in the spring of 2007 and decided to continue my studies with a PhD in the Reichert lab in the fall of 2007.  When I am not spending my time humoring the other grad students at work, I enjoy going to farmer's markets, following Duke basketball and Alabama football, cooking, attending Durham Bulls games and playing intramural sports.  I am also the department's foodie in residence, and can offer recommendations on anything from pulled pork to fine dining in the Triangle area.

My research involves investigating methods for prolonging the useful life of implantable glucose sensors. Utilizing both computational transport models and bench top experiments, I will seek to investigate the roles that various stages of wound healing have on the attenuation of sensor response in vitro and in vivo.  With this knowledge, the rational design of novel implantable probes with extended useful lives should be possible.
